Using New Ideas and Technology to Bring a Classroom into the 21st Century

Bringing My Class into the 21st Century
How would I use the new ideas and changing technology that I have learned this semester to bring my class into the 21st century world? The possibilities are endless. Technology can be used in so many ways in edcucation and teaching.

Powerpoint Presentations
Powerpoint presentations can be great at the beginning of school years in order for students to be able to get to know each other and get to know each other's interests. For older elementary students on through highschool, powerpoints would be a great hands-on activitity to complete in your school's computer lab. The presentations could be on anything, not just the students themselves. Presentations can be integrated into all course of study. Students could be required to complete individual presentations or group presentations. This would be a great way to keep it interesting. I would encourage my students to pay close attention and question them about information presented. We all know that we as teachers can use powerpoints for anything and everything and we should take advantage of it, put some thought into our presentations, and make it creative and then flip it and have our students do the same thing.

Podcasts
Another experience that I had this semester was with podcasts, I listened to podcasts and we even recorded our own podcasts. Again, podcasts could be something used with students. Podcasts on any related topic could be found and played during class and students could even be allowed to create their own podcasts.
